We offer contract research, contract analysis and joint project development for companies, universities and hospitals in Europe and overseas. Our field of expertise is high-throughput glycomics, covering study design, sample preparation, sample analysis, data QC and data analysis.

Genos performs the analyses of N-glycosylation of proteins from different types of samples. Our integrated high-throughput platform is dedicated to the analysis of IgG and plasma N-glycome using Ultra Performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) and Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Our high-throughput platform is optimized for the N-glycosylation analysis of proteins from blood serum, tissue samples (brain tissue) and cell samples (leukocytes and thrombocytes).

We currently offer the following services and forms of collaboration:

  • Immunoglobulin G (IgG) N-glycome analysis

    Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography

    Glycans released from IgG are labelled with fluorescent dye, 2-aminobenzamide, and analysed by Hydrophilic Interaction Chromatography (HILIC) which is a reliable quantitative method proven to provide quality data for the studies of large cohorts (publications).
    Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry:
    Analyses of glycans still attached to a peptide backbone. Information about the position of the glycosylation site in this type of study is preserved (for example Fc vs Fab IgG glycosylation). Additionally, IgG subclasses are chromatographically separated which enables the analysis of class-specific glycopeptides.

  • Plasma N-glycome analysis

    Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography

    Glycans released from total plasma proteins are labelled with fluorescent dye (2-aminobenzamide) and analysed by Hydrophilic Interaction Chromatography (HILIC) which is a reliable quantitative method proven to provide quality data for the studies of large cohorts (publications).

  • Study design

    Genos offers consultancies in study design, under the full or partial control of the experiment, for different fields of biomedicine. The mixture of expertise from Genos employees (biologists, pharmacist, chemists, statisticians and mathematicians) ensures the quality of the study design.

  • Data analysis

    Data analysis is an important aspect of the workflow Genos provides to the public. Since pure numbers, without thoughtful and meaningful explanation, are usually of little interest Genos invested significantly to its employee’s competence in statistics and computer science. Therefore, Genos now offers a wide range of statistical techniques from basic experimental methods of normalization or batch correction to standard topics like statistical inference or machine/statistical learning.

  • Joint project development

    Genos is also an active research organization. On the basis of the recommendation of the National Science Council, the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia issued a permit that allowed Genos to formally register as a research organization in 2007. Genos currently participates in six FP7 projects (GlycoBioM, HighGlycan, IBD-BIOM, MIMOmics, Pain-OMICS and HTP-GlycoMet).
    We are constantly in search of potential collaborative projects where we can contribute with our expertise in high-throughput glycomics and extensive experience of participation in large FP7 and H2020 consortia.
