Ivona Bečeheli is a PhD student involved in research of epigenetic regulation of glycosylation which is also the subject of her PhD thesis. She graduated in field of Molecular Biology on Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb and since her graduation in 2011, she is an employee of Genos Glycoscience Laboratory. She participated in various Workshops, as „Translating Epigenome into Function“ or „Epigenetic plasticity: implications in neural (dys)function“, and is still interested in continuous exchange of knowledge and experience. The epigenetic part of her research includes analysis of methylation and expression of HNF1α gene in pancreatic adenocarcinoma and diabetes. In the scope of this project she closely collaborates with the Epigenetic group at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb. The results of the research could lead to new insights on the association of diabetes and pancreatic adenocarcinoma through epigenetic regulation of HNF1α gene and its role in the regulation of protein glycosylation in pancreas.
