Mattia graduated in Biotechnology at the University of Milan-Bicocca in 2013, is a PhD student in Chemical Sciences at the same University and an Erasmus + trainee at Genos Glycoscience laboratory. His PhD project involves the purification, chemical modification and analysis of biomedically relevant (glyco)macromolecules. His experimental work within the home institution comprises mainly two neurologically relevant (glyco)proteins: Osteocalcin and Neuroserpin. He is spending a one-year period of research in Genos to stretch his PhD tendrils towards omics approaches to study the brain, performing glycomics and glycoproteomics analyses on brain tissue. His research interests include the study of the brain glycoproteome composition and fluctuations amongst different conditions, employing bioanalytical techniques such as chromatography and mass spectrometry.
